The Essence of Sylhet

Dehnal Oud Bengal Black is a 100% pure oud oil originating from Sylhet, Bangladesh, a region with a deep-rooted tradition of agarwood and oud production.

Distilled in 2024 using traditional methods, this pure oud captures the distinctive character associated with Sylheti agarwood: dark, woody, animalic and intensely aromatic.

There are no carrier oils and no added fragrance oils – Bengal Black is presented as pure oud for those who want to experience agarwood in its concentrated form.

A Bold, Traditional Oud Character

Bengal Black is firmly in the classic oud tradition.

The opening is dry, woody and distinctly animalic, with the powerful barnyard character that experienced oud enthusiasts often associate with traditional oud oils.

As the oil settles on the skin, the initial intensity gradually develops into a deeper and more resinous oud heart. Rich woodiness becomes increasingly prominent, while smoky and leathery nuances begin to emerge.

The dry-down is deep, persistent and unmistakably oud: dark woods, resin, leather and a warm burnt-smoky character remain close to the skin long after application.

This is not designed to smell like a conventional modern perfume. It is a concentrated experience of pure oud oil in its raw and traditional style.

Who Is Bengal Black For?

Bengal Black is particularly suited to experienced oud wearers and collectors who enjoy:

  • Traditional oud oils
  • Strong animalic oud
  • Dark and resinous woody fragrances
  • Smoky and leathery scent profiles
  • Pure oud rather than blended perfume oils
  • Concentrated fragrances with a distinctive natural character

If your preference is for light, sweet or conventional Western-style fragrances, Bengal Black may feel considerably more intense.

New to Pure Oud?

If you have never experienced genuine pure oud oil before, we strongly recommend trying the smallest available size first.

Pure oud can be dramatically different from mainstream perfumes and blended oud fragrances. Its woody, animalic and sometimes barnyard-like characteristics are part of the traditional oud experience and can be an acquired taste.

Trying a smaller quantity first allows you to experience how Bengal Black develops on your own skin before choosing a larger bottle.

How to Wear

Pure oud is highly concentrated, so only a small amount is required. Apply sparingly to the skin and allow the oil time to develop naturally. The character of the oud will evolve after application, revealing different aspects of its woody, resinous and smoky profile over time.
